Just takes a little getting accustomed to after my 7 year old Samsung. I will probably have a better idea in 6 months time.
I haven't yet managed to get any use out of it! The transfer of files has left me unable to see any apps, make any calls or receive any texts! So far not a good buy 🤦🏼♀️
I think it's a great product, my rating of the battery might be misleading, because at the moment I'm using a quick charger.
Great phone for everyday use, quite powerful, high-quality screen, decent battery life. Bulkier and heavier than most - but that's the price of full repair-ability. My only concern is a bug with inability to register phone in IMS for Voice over WiFi, so that callers cannot be identified. Operator says it's a bug with the phone, Fairphone says it's with the operator.. I think it's both. Operator is P4 Poland.
Great phone, very happy with my purchase
The battery could last longer, and it is quite expensive compared to other smartphones with similar performance. However, these points are more than compensated by the expected longevity. Updates are released regularly, both feature and security updates. It gets a wholehearted recommendation.
Too much google apps (most of them innecesaries) and you cannot uninstall. Also when you insert your sim, the phone sends an sms to a Google phone number (without ask permission) and you have to pay for it. I don't have a Google account and I don't know why the phone do that (no good intentions, I think). The phone looks well constructed and for me is powerful enough. But I have to recharge the battery every day, maybe is fault of all Google shit installed, in my previous phone (xiaomi redmi note4) the battery used to work for 3 days (with no google apps) so probably I'll install lineage os with microg into Fairphone to bring it a longer live and more privacy...

the best phone I've ever had, not the most powerful, but certainly the most ethical, the setup was very simple and customizable. Exactly as shown in the videos the phone is easily disassembled and repairable! As for the software it is graphically pleasant and simple, and at the same time very customizable

The phone works really well. Maybe not the thinnest or the lightest, but for a fair reason. Totally recommended
I would say that I could buy phone that has better specifications than Fairphone 5, but there is no chance that any brand ensures that much ethical, ecological and fair work which is far more important than phone specifications. There are some small bugs on phone so that is why my review is 4/5, for battery I have option for 80% charging so mabye that is reason why I have 4/5 for battery and as I said, I could buy phone with better specs for this price, but any other phone can't stand stpry behind Fairphone.

Very solid phone with a reasonable chance for longevity. I appreciate the sustainability choices. Only thing missing is the availability of a fliptop cover to protect the screen.
Upgraded from the Fairphone 4, what a delight!
It's a very nice phone. Biggest plus for me is replaceable battery and a slot for micro SD card. My only dislike is the stock Fairphone launcher. Limited to 3*3 4*4 and 5*5 grids and I always use 5*6 also I don't see why there has to be a forced Google search on the home screen that can not be removed. Thankfully this is Android so that I can use ADW Launcher instead.

I love how it looks and how it works, but most important, it is sustainable and its componentes are replaceable. It is expensive, but I think it worth it.
It's a great and basic smartphone. Pros: Fixability, 5 years product guarantee, eSim, simple transfer from old phone to new, montly OS updates Cons: Camera compared to newest phones from other companies not as good, no earphone jack Pros heavily outweigh the cons for me though + I support their effort for a transparent supply chain.

Battery doesn't last long. But the phone does! So I dont mind.Everything can be swapped out easily. Updates till 2031,so this one is a keeper.

The smartphone is a little slow to open Apps, but once opened works perfectly. That is my only negative point. The rest is very good.

This is my first Fairphone and I love it. It's a pleasure to use it, the ability to repair in the future with just a few screws is fantastic. I'm looking forward to keeping this phone as my only device for many years.

Good phone. A bit pricey but understandable.
Camera already failed once after two days of usage. Software seemed stuck. Could still record video and use panoramic and pro option but portret and normal camera stayed blurry. Had to reboot. Not sure if it's me and my finger coordination but clicking links often fails or misselects the wrong text in apps like Reddit. Did not have this issue with FP 3.
Fast, easy and nice to use
Solid phone. Feels like a nice update compared to the Fairphone 3 I've used for 4 years. Let's hope this one will stay with me even longer!

Works fine, it's just a bit thick and it pricey.
My first impression was that I was really glad to have a phone with a fingerprint sensor that works properly! My previous phone was a Fairphone 3, which I had for nearly 5 years and only changed because I allowed it to get water-damaged. The step up in internal memory is going to be very helpful, as we seem to have to add more and more apps to do things.

It is a good phone, and you get what was promised. Mostly. The phone offers many years of security updates. But these seem to come months after release and are just the bare minimum. This is unfortunately not uncommon in this industry. Other security features are also missing. This is for example the reason why GraphaneOS is not available on any Fairphone, which I would really like to install on my Fairphone 5 :(.
I'm impressed. The hardware is solid and well-made. Love the modular, repairable design. The UI is clean and responsive. I use it just like my previous device and it works perfectly. This phone is prove that sustainable technology can exist. I just wish the protective case was a bit less expensive.
It's my third or fourth Fairphone so you can tell I am happy with the ethos and the quality.

Exactly the kind of phone I need, for not being a mobile gamer, nor a social media user, so not much use for a jaw dropping camera. Still a pretty good camera for me, except in low light. Great screen, resolution, contrast, depth of color. Sound is okay too. The fact that I'll get to repair it and rely on it for years makes me happy.
Bigger and heavier then my previous phone. It's easy to notice because I hold the phone in my hand all the time. Spent some time getting to know the latest android version but it's fine. All functions that I need work. I did overlook the absence of the headphone jack and a second physical sim slot. That's why I converted one of my sims to an E-sim. The cover on the back is difficult to remove when it's stuck on one of the pegs holding it in place.
The phone is cool, the percieved quality of the product is really high, the concept is AWESOME and GREAT (genius), I agree with the idea behind the product. Because of all these aspects, I will surely 100% purchase again the product in the future... BUT...there are "some comprimises" that I didn't like so much on: camera, spare parts, size, prices. I hope that they will improve the situation on FP6

I like very much the cellphone built by Fairphone due to the circular economy it has behind it. The quality is very good, but especially is the thing that you can repair it yourself if needed and has the possibility to change the battery and other parts. I like also that they give you support for at least 5 years, included in the warranty and also for the software. I hope it will last at least the 5 years my last Fairphone lasted.

The phone works smoothly, not a top tier but that was expected. The highest value is the social and environmental value behind It!
The touchscreen is not very good, but everything else is fine
It's not worth it's money if you are looking for a gaming or performance based phone. It does however make up for it with the 5 year guarantee! You can take out most of the simpler components like the camera and speaker, whereas you can't even take out the battery out of most modern phones. I did wish you could take out the ram or even the processor in order to upgrade it like a pc, so you would only ever replace the parts you have issues with and keep the phone for even longer. That would be an absolute dream. As of now it could handle all of my applications and is perfect for a day to day phone. Wifi and data roaming seems to drain the battery rather quickly and the screen brightness jumps around very weirdly if it is set to auto adjust (which is barely worthy of a mention, though it did really bug me at the start). Other than that, I haven't had any issues so far! Hope it'll actually last for as long as promised! Edit: So it turns out AR mode isn't supported, which is useful for measuring tools or interactive games- For me this is a very important feature which is commonplace amongst any android or IOS. Additionally it's supported by phones which similar hardware. I am beyond confused why this isn't available. Personally, this is a very important feature. Though I value fairness, it doesn't feel fair towards the consumer to disregard such a feature at this cost. It's not a hardware issue, it's a fairphone one. Fix it.
I was surprised to see that there is no audio plug for a headset. More importantly, the phone does not have any way to communicate that there is a pending notification without turning the display on: no notification LED, no Always-On Display. The feature exists in Android 14 but was removed by FairPhone because of a battery issue earlier this year and there's no information about it ever returning. It's not even possible to reenable it and endure the battery issue as they have fully removed it from the system. This is a dealbreaker for me. I've contacted their support to try to either find a solution, know if there would be a fix coming or discuss a refund and they've been extremely slow and unhelpful, sending me canned responses and even mistakenly including internal instructions I shouldn't be seeing like this one: "### DO NOT SEND This delay apology has already been used. Try not to apologize again, but if you feel it necessary please reword as appropriate." I've owned a FP3 for years and was excited about getting an upgrade while continuing to support FairPhone and making the phone market slightly more sustainable and ethical, but this level of customer support makes it impossible to fix even the easiest issues. I've lost all trust in them.

Is a very sturdy phone. Everything well so far
It does everything a normal person needs from their phone with sufficient speed, memory & battery life. The slightly high price is offset by the knowledge that the phone's footprint over other people's lives and futures is as small as it reasonably can be within our current toxic production/consumption system.
Excellent phone, fast, easy to use, battery life about 48 h in average usage
Some menu options are not translated into Polish. The LED flashlight is less bright than in Samsung. Camera under the screen is not something I like. Overall, great repairable long-lasting phone. I am delighted.

Very nice progress from FP4
After the first days, using the phone more than usual, battery life has improved. The automatic screen brightness setting doesn't work. Or better : it works too much, changing the brightness of the screen the whole time, which is very annoying, so I am now changing the brightness manually the whole time. The phone is sturdy. Fortunately, as the aluminium casing is a bit slippery (already dropped it twince within the first 24 hours). It's quite heavy and thick, which I knew beforehand. Opening the phone is easy. Haven't done too much with that feature yet, but it will surely come in handy once I break the screen.
Value for the money is great: saved lives, preserved planet; I wouldn’t choose anything else, even if it meant sacrificing features, and I don’t even have to! Regarding the phone, well, it’s Android, and it’s good; “LineageOS for microG” in my case. Many thanks for officially allowing this Google-free configuration. That’s almost unique. The only thing I really miss from my FP2 is the multi-color LED. You _do_ use a LED, as a battery indicator; it’s so sad that you dropped its multi-purpose ability. With the FP2, I didn’t need to be next to my phone to know something had happened. I just loved being able to know at a glance that I had received an email (ping blinking), or an SMS/MMS (green blinking), or a calendar alert (blue blinking)… but after almost 9 years of use, it was begging for retirement… Please bring that color LED back in the future! If that could happen on the FP3 with a simple module replacement, that would be awesome ♥
Love this phone! It's the best Fairphone so far and I love everything about it! Perhaps the battery life could be a little bit better but I am definitely giving a 5 star since I can easily get an extra battery, charge it up, switch it out and easily carry an extra battery with me.
It's just great ok? It's only downside is that it isn't watertight but like, it's not like I'm planning on throwing it into water soon, but I know that I will have to replace the parts eventually.

Great product if we speak about battery, modularity and screen. But the processor is way too slow, I would love to pay for a modular processor upgrade so I could do my tasks faster and videos won't be laggy

phone is AMAZING, PLEASE keep up the custom ROM support thats what i love the most. only "problems": BATTERY life and maybe full water protection, and your phone will be PERFECT

Great phone. Rather barebones android, which essentially is nice, but some more functionality like other brands bring can be nice.
Battery life is above average and improved from fairphone 4. Good usability, and great that Android is pretty much vanilla.
I bought the phone from the website and from the second day the brightness of the screen fluctuated when I was sitting in total darkness. This has only happened to me once and I don't yet know whether this is due to the phone's sensor or the OS The USB-C socket also wobbles quite noticeably. But the cable holds without interrupting the charging process. I don't know if this is intentional.
It's worth paying a little more if it helps to exploit the poorest people in the world a little less!
It's awesome. Open bootloarder makes it possible to install custom ROMs and there's plenty that support FP5

Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Lieferanten
Wir haben gemeinsam mit unseren Endmontage- und Batterieherstellern erreicht, dass für die Produktion des Fairphone 5 erneuerbare Energien genutzt werden. Aber das ist noch ist alles. Indem wir zusammen mit unseren Lieferanten Klimaziele festlegen, fördern wir die Reduzierung von Kohlenstoff in unserer Lieferkette – und zwar über die Fairphone-Produkte hinaus. Wir konnten zudem unsere Materialbeschaffung beim Fairphone 5 verbessern. Im Inneren des Smaprtphones befinden sich Aluminium, Magnesium, seltene Erden, Zinn, Nickel, Zink, Kupfer, Kunststoffe und zum ersten Mal auch Indium in recycelter Form.

Durch Investitionen in Gold Standard-zertifizierte Projekte in Uganda und der Demokratischen Republik Kongo, tragen wir zur Verringerung der CO2-Emissionen bei und unterstützen wir zugleich gemeinschaftsbasierte Aktivitäten. Das Fairphone 5 ist unser bisher nachhaltigstes Smartphone. Mit mehr fairen und recycelten Materialien. Wir zeigen es dir von Innen.
Unsere bisher fairste Batterie
Mit einer Kapazität von 4200 mAh hält die Batterie den ganzen Tag. Sie lässt sich in wenigen Sekunden austauschen und enthält im Inneren und in der Lieferkette mehr fair gehandelte Materialien als je zuvor.
OLED-Display
Das OLED-Display des Fairphone 5 wurde aus haltbarem Corning Gorilla Glass gefertigt und lässt sich ganz einfach austauschen. Du brauchst nur einen Schraubenzieher und ein paar Minuten Zeit.
USB-C-Anschluss
Für den Fall, dass der kleine wichtige Anschluss den Geist aufgibt, haben wir für das Fairphone 5 ein Ersatzteil zum Austauschen für dich.
Lautsprecher
Das Fairphone 5 enthält zu 100 % recycelte seltene Erden und zu 90 % recycelten Kunststoff in der Lautsprecher-Abdeckung sowie Fairtrade-Gold, das in die Lieferkette integriert ist.

Wir liefern keine USB-Kabel, Ladegeräte und Audioanschluss-Adapter , weil du sie wahrscheinlich schon hast. Verwende doch einfach was du schon besitzt. Das funktioniert perfekt und spart Müll. Natürlich kannst du diese Produkte auch kaufen , wenn du sie brauchst.

Welche Größe hat das Gerät?
Das Fairphone 5 hat die Abmessungen 75,83 mm x 9,6 mm x 161,6 mm (B x T x H) und wiegt 212 Gramm. Es ist unser bisher dünnstes Smartphone und fast 9 % schmaler als das Fairphone 4.
Was ist ein OLED-Display, und warum ist es besser?
OLED steht für Organic Light Emitting Diode. Es bietet eine höhere Bildwiederholfrequenz und einen höheren Kontrast als andere gängige Displays. Das führt zu lebendigeren Farben und dunkleren Schwarztönen. Das Fairphone 5 ist das erste unserer Smartphones mit einem OLED-Display.
Welche Sicherheitsupdates planen wir?
Wir planen Sicherheitsupdates für mindestens acht Jahre ab dem Datum der Markteinführung.
Ist die Kamera des Fairphone 5 besser als beim Fairphone 4?
Ja, die Kamera ist im Vergleich zum Fairphone 4 deutlich besser. Das Fairphone 5 verfügt über ein erstklassiges 50-MP-Dreifach-Kamerasystem mit hochwertigen Objektiven von Sony, das unter allen Lichtverhältnissen großartige Bilder garantiert. Bei der Software haben wir die Kameraeinstellung erheblich verbessert. Das Umschalten zwischen den Kameras und die Aufnahmegeschwindigkeit sind wesentlich schneller geworden. Zudem lassen sich alle drei Objektive mit unserem charakteristischen modularen Design leicht austauschen.
