Casing solid. Display brilliant. Camera good. Haptic of hardware buttons excellent.

So far awesome! But there are some glitches: fingerprint reader could work better. and when I read QR codes (from apps), the camera doesn't read them as it doesn't go automatically into supermacro. I need to always to visit the camera app first & enable supermacro. Please fix.

The phone is great, I have been able to install an alternative OS (with some FAFF) and use an SD card to store my music collection. The camera is mostly fine for my use, nothing crazy but perfectly serviceable photos, more than enough for keeping a personal record of life. However when filming gigs/concerts, the mic doesn't record the audio well. Loud noises are distorted and the mix of sound is off. Very very poor for a new phone in 2025. This is using the default camera app or gcam, there are a couple of other apps I will try. The file size for these videos is also huge (11GB for 1 hour 1080 footage) and there isn't a way to change the file type in the default fairphone camera app, however I can compress videos in a separate app (11GB becomes 0.9GB with the same resolution). I think the audio issue could be solved via software changes. The screen is nice and clear, and it goes brighter than I expected. Everything runs smoothly, even all my banking apps on /e/ OS. The reason, in addition to the audio issue in videos, I have not given 5 stars is that it is too big. It doesn't fit comfortably in most of my trouser pockets. The height is the only issue, I don't mind the thickness. It would also be nice to have a headphone jack, but I am more bothered by the size.

Does its job and does it well. Offered the Fairphone 5 to my brother on Christmas as I've been using a Fairphone 3 since 2019 and it still works perfectly to this day. The Fairphone does its job and does it well, nothing to complain on that front; coming from a low-end Wiko, this was a huge upgrade for my brother. The phone is a bit on thick side, but it's not unwieldy either. Offering a bumper case like the Fairphone 3's would be a good fit for this phone, as it protects the phone very efficiently without adding thickness to it or obstructing the transparent back. Too bad they don't make those anymore ! Although I fully understand the price of your products, I feel like the price of your cases and screen protectors are a bit unwarranted. Especially considering this is meant to be a durable phone, it would be really nice to drop the price a bit or offer the case for free with a new phone ! Other than that, the phone looks cool and feels nice to use. This point above is my only complaint about it.

This review is due to customer service response times. On the 26/4 I got a FP5 on the FP website and wanted to cancelled my order as I needed a phone straight away (and couldn't wait 5 days, I was phoneless) I got a quick reply on the first cancellation request but then I made it very clear that I'd like my money back OR a phone within less than a week. So my phone was delivered to the UK and it's been here for the past 8 days because UPS just got notified of my return request. In the meantime, the FP team went silent while my money is on hold. So I'm still phoneless and now I'm also cashless 🙄

Love this phone because it is repairable, it's long software support life and it's environmental / fair trade credentials. The phone itself works well and does everything I need. Camera much better than a previous Fairphone I had years ago.

It's definitely a phone. Everything works as expected. Fingerprint sensor takes a bit of getting used to. A good upgrade from my previous Honor 9 (from 2019 I think), seems to be decent enough for my light use. The battery life from light use though is not amazing, even using low brightness and 60Hz refresh rate. Camera is decently capable, reasonably fast.

After 5 years, I've just upgraded from FP3 to FP5. Reasons for the upgrade from FP3: - was getting really sluggish with critical apps - camera with double click on power button was often not working. I missed a lot of in-the-moment photos because of that. - battery was not lasting anymore Transition between the phones using usb-c to usb-c was reasonably fast and smooth. So far FP5: - is a lot faster, that's good - double click on camera is working, that's good - battery goes down quickly NOT GOOD - really disappointed - unlike FP3, it's not coming with a simple shock absorber - the cameras are popping out on the back of the phone. I don't like that. - the speaker is at the bottom, not on the left side; I got used to muffle the sound of ads by simply pressing my palm on the speaker. I'm going to miss this a lot. - no more jack connection. Not a huge problem and not a surprise, but I'm still going to miss it. Overall, I didn't get the "wow" effect that I hoped for. Knowing all of this, I would probably still get the FP5, because I want to put my money where my mouth is, and support FairPhone in their ethical approach.

So much faster than my old Fairphone 2. The battery lasts 2 days when the phone is not in use.

I manually installed the /e/ OS and after a few hiccups because of a few unclear instructions from the Easy Installer I managed to get it working. It's so good. I love that I'm not forced to freely offer all my information to Google and also I'm super impressed with the camera. Amazing colors and advanced camera controls, I always choose phones that supposedly have good cameras and I'm disappointed with their reality but this one I have no complaints of. I really wish it had more volume steps, the lowest volume for notification sounds is too loud. Also I don't think it has any protection for clamping the actual sound volume coming out of it, I'm afraid that when wearing earphones a noise will be too loud and cause actual damage. I have looked around for 3rd party apps that could help with this but haven't had any luck. Battery seems to be alright but I think it takes a bit longer to charge than my old Sony Xperia even with a fast charger, not too bad tho'. It feels quite good in my tiny hands. It's a bit big but it doesn't feel like a tablet, I can use it with just one hand when needed. It doesn't feel like it'll slide off at any moment. Phone: 10/10 Ease of buying outside of Europe: null Customer support: 4/10 (reps are really good and helpful but you can only contact them after making a sacrifice to the blue moon and their bot is rude)

My last smartphone (5 years old) was only a little bit slower, but more useful.

I got the Fairphone 5 really only because of the promise that I will be able to repair myself and after haven taking it apart and put back together I can safely say that will be possible for the Future to come. I did have concerns about the battery life having heard from others and reviews but I am happy to say that it has lasted me a full day without any issue.

The user interface can be improved greatly. For examplle: 1. Only 3 screens for apps. More are needed. 2. The first screen cannot be altered and none of the widgets on it are useful! Please make it editable or deletable. 3. Folders should be more customisable: such as colour and background transparency. 4. The long list of apps below the homescreen is very difficult to navigate. THe apps cannot be reordered.

I am using it since a couple of days, so I will update this review if the battery will day sooner than expected, but for now I am completely satisfied! Also, I am not worried about the battery because I see that I would be able to change it easily :)

I come from the Farphone 4 and upgraded because it was getting a bit slow when using certain apps like Slack. My Fairphone 4 still lives on as a backup phone now running e/os. I am mostly positive about the phone. The build quality is good and the phone is responsive. Only thing I noticed so far is that if you don't hold the speaker perfectly over your ear canal you muffle the sound making calls hard to hear. I never had this issue with the FP4.

Reliable telephone. Android works well. Sturdy - slipped from the table more than once but still no scratch. However, the Fairphone is fairly bulky in size which makes it difficult to fit into some pockets. From the feature set it cannot be compared to other phones in the price range. On the other hand there is no other phone on the market which is somehow aware of fair production. Ideal for people who are looking for phone to keep for the next 5-10 years.

I received the Fairphone 5 about a week ago, so it's still early for a full review. However, so far I can say that transferring the data from my old phone to this one was very straightforward. Interestingly, the layout and access to apps and information are quite similar to my previous device. It's been working well and meeting all the expectations one has for a smartphone. I actually bought this phone primarily for ethical and environmental reasons, and I wasn’t expecting too much in terms of performance — but I must say I’ve been pleasantly surprised. So far, it definitely deserves 5 stars, and if it continues like this, it will keep deserving them.

I miss a gallery on the phone. There is not a default gallery for the picture.

I am blown away by the quality of the phone. Of course I had to take it apart despite it having no issues, and the repairability is indeed amazing.

Simply a very well made phone, made for longevity with replaceable parts. My previous phone lasted about six years with heavy usage, I think the Fairphone 5 will help me do even better than that.

The philosophy of the product and company is to be praised but obviously implies some limitations: you need to take that into account when it comes to evaluating the device and comparing it to its peers. Having said that the device works absolutely fine, is quite snappy and there's everything the average user needs: Calls, text and mail, extensive app library, a nice camera, the battery gets you throughout the day...the quality of the screen is acceptable but perhaps is an area that FP could look to improve. The ability to fix the device on your own is great and doesn't imply poor assembly or low quality materials, and the delivery of spares is reasonably fast. My previous device, a fairphone 3+, lasted 4 years and only had to replace once the usb port. After sales Service from FP could be improved since is not a mainstream phone.

Its a nice phone once the original ROM is replaced with something less annoying (and this is possibly the least annoying preinstalled system i've had)

Excited to finally have a more repairable phone with replaceable battery and long software support. Lack of audio jack is a significant inconvenience and battery life is below what I hoped for, but manageable for now, let's see what will it be in a year or ywo.

The First Fairphone that can keep Up with high class phones

Battery life is amazing, only charged it once in the week I've had it. My old phone (galaxy s20) I had to charge once or twice a day. Other than that it works perfectly fine as a phone should. So happy I chose a Fairphone.

I am owner od my second FP and I am really a fan of the Fairphone products and philosophy. However, I have to charge battery of my totally new cell phone every day in spite of following the correct use of cell phone. I do not use internet all the time, I do not watch videos, I do not use applications that need more "fuel". I am a little disappointed from the battery.

I AM SO HAPPY TO FINALLY FIND A PRODUCT THAT IS SUSTAINABLE AND FAIR. BYE BYE XIAOMI!!

Battery lasts much less than my previous phone (redmi 10) but that's ok for me. I don't use the phone very intensively ( I am now charging almost daily, before 2/week). I am super happy with the rest :)

Great phone that stands for its sustainable and ethical values. Great overall quality, but disappointed by the battery life (sometime less than a day) and the screen colors that cannot get correct even when being tweaked.

Great phone, especially for people who want to live a more sustainable lifestyle and value stuff like right to repair. It doesn't contain the most recent hardware, but it's decent and the phone still runs smoothly and all.

Only negative was when there was a security update and it remained at a black screen for a very long time during the reboot. Otherwise i am all satisfied with this product

I haven't yet managed to get any use out of it! The transfer of files has left me unable to see any apps, make any calls or receive any texts! So far not a good buy 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think it's a great product, my rating of the battery might be misleading, because at the moment I'm using a quick charger.

Great phone for everyday use, quite powerful, high-quality screen, decent battery life. Bulkier and heavier than most - but that's the price of full repair-ability. My only concern is a bug with inability to register phone in IMS for Voice over WiFi, so that callers cannot be identified. Operator says it's a bug with the phone, Fairphone says it's with the operator.. I think it's both. Operator is P4 Poland.

The battery could last longer, and it is quite expensive compared to other smartphones with similar performance. However, these points are more than compensated by the expected longevity. Updates are released regularly, both feature and security updates. It gets a wholehearted recommendation.

the best phone I've ever had, not the most powerful, but certainly the most ethical, the setup was very simple and customizable. Exactly as shown in the videos the phone is easily disassembled and repairable! As for the software it is graphically pleasant and simple, and at the same time very customizable

I would say that I could buy phone that has better specifications than Fairphone 5, but there is no chance that any brand ensures that much ethical, ecological and fair work which is far more important than phone specifications. There are some small bugs on phone so that is why my review is 4/5, for battery I have option for 80% charging so mabye that is reason why I have 4/5 for battery and as I said, I could buy phone with better specs for this price, but any other phone can't stand stpry behind Fairphone.

Very solid phone with a reasonable chance for longevity. I appreciate the sustainability choices. Only thing missing is the availability of a fliptop cover to protect the screen.

It's a very nice phone. Biggest plus for me is replaceable battery and a slot for micro SD card. My only dislike is the stock Fairphone launcher. Limited to 3*3 4*4 and 5*5 grids and I always use 5*6 also I don't see why there has to be a forced Google search on the home screen that can not be removed. Thankfully this is Android so that I can use ADW Launcher instead.

I love how it looks and how it works, but most important, it is sustainable and its componentes are replaceable. It is expensive, but I think it worth it.

It's a great and basic smartphone. Pros: Fixability, 5 years product guarantee, eSim, simple transfer from old phone to new, montly OS updates Cons: Camera compared to newest phones from other companies not as good, no earphone jack Pros heavily outweigh the cons for me though + I support their effort for a transparent supply chain.

Battery doesn't last long. But the phone does! So I dont mind.Everything can be swapped out easily. Updates till 2031,so this one is a keeper.

The smartphone is a little slow to open Apps, but once opened works perfectly. That is my only negative point. The rest is very good.

Camera already failed once after two days of usage. Software seemed stuck. Could still record video and use panoramic and pro option but portret and normal camera stayed blurry. Had to reboot. Not sure if it's me and my finger coordination but clicking links often fails or misselects the wrong text in apps like Reddit. Did not have this issue with FP 3.

Solid phone. Feels like a nice update compared to the Fairphone 3 I've used for 4 years. Let's hope this one will stay with me even longer!

Great product from a great company. I understand it will feel more expensive for the specs they boast but that is expected due the fact that most products are cheap thanks to exploitation

My first impression was that I was really glad to have a phone with a fingerprint sensor that works properly! My previous phone was a Fairphone 3, which I had for nearly 5 years and only changed because I allowed it to get water-damaged. The step up in internal memory is going to be very helpful, as we seem to have to add more and more apps to do things.

It is a good phone, and you get what was promised. Mostly. The phone offers many years of security updates. But these seem to come months after release and are just the bare minimum. This is unfortunately not uncommon in this industry. Other security features are also missing. This is for example the reason why GraphaneOS is not available on any Fairphone, which I would really like to install on my Fairphone 5 :(.

I'm impressed. The hardware is solid and well-made. Love the modular, repairable design. The UI is clean and responsive. I use it just like my previous device and it works perfectly. This phone is prove that sustainable technology can exist. I just wish the protective case was a bit less expensive.

Exactly the kind of phone I need, for not being a mobile gamer, nor a social media user, so not much use for a jaw dropping camera. Still a pretty good camera for me, except in low light. Great screen, resolution, contrast, depth of color. Sound is okay too. The fact that I'll get to repair it and rely on it for years makes me happy.

Bigger and heavier then my previous phone. It's easy to notice because I hold the phone in my hand all the time. Spent some time getting to know the latest android version but it's fine. All functions that I need work. I did overlook the absence of the headphone jack and a second physical sim slot. That's why I converted one of my sims to an E-sim. The cover on the back is difficult to remove when it's stuck on one of the pegs holding it in place.

The phone is cool, the percieved quality of the product is really high, the concept is AWESOME and GREAT (genius), I agree with the idea behind the product. Because of all these aspects, I will surely 100% purchase again the product in the future... BUT...there are "some comprimises" that I didn't like so much on: camera, spare parts, size, prices. I hope that they will improve the situation on FP6

I like very much the cellphone built by Fairphone due to the circular economy it has behind it. The quality is very good, but especially is the thing that you can repair it yourself if needed and has the possibility to change the battery and other parts. I like also that they give you support for at least 5 years, included in the warranty and also for the software. I hope it will last at least the 5 years my last Fairphone lasted.

Its just perfect. Great specs, good looks and it reminds me all the time about responsible consumer choices, I can't count the times I have blown people's heads off when showing how a fairphone works. I Love it.

The phone works smoothly, not a top tier but that was expected. The highest value is the social and environmental value behind It!

The touchscreen is not very good, but everything else is fine

I was surprised to see that there is no audio plug for a headset. More importantly, the phone does not have any way to communicate that there is a pending notification without turning the display on: no notification LED, no Always-On Display. The feature exists in Android 14 but was removed by FairPhone because of a battery issue earlier this year and there's no information about it ever returning. It's not even possible to reenable it and endure the battery issue as they have fully removed it from the system. This is a dealbreaker for me. I've contacted their support to try to either find a solution, know if there would be a fix coming or discuss a refund and they've been extremely slow and unhelpful, sending me canned responses and even mistakenly including internal instructions I shouldn't be seeing like this one: "### DO NOT SEND This delay apology has already been used. Try not to apologize again, but if you feel it necessary please reword as appropriate." I've owned a FP3 for years and was excited about getting an upgrade while continuing to support FairPhone and making the phone market slightly more sustainable and ethical, but this level of customer support makes it impossible to fix even the easiest issues. I've lost all trust in them.

It does everything a normal person needs from their phone with sufficient speed, memory & battery life. The slightly high price is offset by the knowledge that the phone's footprint over other people's lives and futures is as small as it reasonably can be within our current toxic production/consumption system.

Some menu options are not translated into Polish. The LED flashlight is less bright than in Samsung. Camera under the screen is not something I like. Overall, great repairable long-lasting phone. I am delighted.

It's not worth it's money if you are looking for a gaming or performance based phone. It does however make up for it with the 5 year guarantee! You can take out most of the simpler components like the camera and speaker, whereas you can't even take out the battery out of most modern phones. I did wish you could take out the ram or even the processor in order to upgrade it like a pc, so you would only ever replace the parts you have issues with and keep the phone for even longer. That would be an absolute dream. As of now it could handle all of my applications and is perfect for a day to day phone. Wifi and data roaming seems to drain the battery rather quickly and the screen brightness jumps around very weirdly if it is set to auto adjust (which is barely worthy of a mention, though it did really bug me at the start). Other than that, I haven't had any issues so far! Hope it'll actually last for as long as promised! Edit: So it turns out AR mode isn't supported, which is useful for measuring tools or interactive games- For me this is a very important feature which is commonplace amongst any android or IOS. Additionally it's supported by phones which similar hardware. I am beyond confused why this isn't available. Personally, this is a very important feature. Though I value fairness, it doesn't feel fair towards the consumer to disregard such a feature at this cost. It's not a hardware issue, it's a fairphone one. Fix it.

Really nice camera. Android and UI is sometimes a bit laggy/buggy but not annoyingly much.

After the first days, using the phone more than usual, battery life has improved. The automatic screen brightness setting doesn't work. Or better : it works too much, changing the brightness of the screen the whole time, which is very annoying, so I am now changing the brightness manually the whole time. The phone is sturdy. Fortunately, as the aluminium casing is a bit slippery (already dropped it twince within the first 24 hours). It's quite heavy and thick, which I knew beforehand. Opening the phone is easy. Haven't done too much with that feature yet, but it will surely come in handy once I break the screen.

Value for the money is great: saved lives, preserved planet; I wouldn’t choose anything else, even if it meant sacrificing features, and I don’t even have to! Regarding the phone, well, it’s Android, and it’s good; “LineageOS for microG” in my case. Many thanks for officially allowing this Google-free configuration. That’s almost unique. The only thing I really miss from my FP2 is the multi-color LED. You _do_ use a LED, as a battery indicator; it’s so sad that you dropped its multi-purpose ability. With the FP2, I didn’t need to be next to my phone to know something had happened. I just loved being able to know at a glance that I had received an email (ping blinking), or an SMS/MMS (green blinking), or a calendar alert (blue blinking)… but after almost 9 years of use, it was begging for retirement… Please bring that color LED back in the future! If that could happen on the FP3 with a simple module replacement, that would be awesome ♥

Love this phone! It's the best Fairphone so far and I love everything about it! Perhaps the battery life could be a little bit better but I am definitely giving a 5 star since I can easily get an extra battery, charge it up, switch it out and easily carry an extra battery with me.

It's just great ok? It's only downside is that it isn't watertight but like, it's not like I'm planning on throwing it into water soon, but I know that I will have to replace the parts eventually.

It's modular and ethical. There is no competition.
